Little Sangyu

This page is a portfolio for little Sangyu, who once wished to be an illustrator, to share the touching moments in the world, share her passion of discovering this planet, lend her eyes to strangers to have a glance of the fabulous life she has or once had.

Thanksgiving 2015. I was a freshman in a college in New York, majored in computer science.

During fall break, I took a 9-day trip to NYC and visited MoMA for the first time.

That was the first time I felt that artists are not marginalized group but interesting and respectful.

That night I called my mom:

"I want to transfer and become a designer."

Everyone has a long list

filled with beautiful things.

Yet they've always been postponed

rotten in the attic of time.

Why is the problem of courage

always mistaken for the problem of time

while those which are depressive

are always called life itself?

Japan

I was open to many forms of arts. I started to learn Chinese painting, watercolor, sketches since 7 for 7 years, was granted the 9th out of 10 levels in National Chinese Painting Certificate. Also learned ceramics and print making during my time in New York. While I was learning Monkuhanga, I started to be enchanted by Japanese arts.

Amaiあまい

Heals anything.

Goodbye, Anita

By no means can I ignore that playing delicate could win some advantages in maternal society, but I'd rather be treated as an equal opponent fairly.

Bay bridge

Spent lots of time walking around

San Francisco, particularly the wharf.

Shell untitled

Shells I picked up in Kanagawa beach. Shells in My Khe beach, Vietnam are pearl white and tiny; Shells in Boston are coarse and huge. The ones in Kanagawa are so versatile.

Omotesando

Saw Amano Hina in Omotesando, Tokyo. No kidding.

Tenman ichiba

An architecture style in Japan to assure 8 hours of sunshine on the pedestrians. I call it Look Into The Sky.

Over the Fuji

Have you noticed a special thing about Fujisan?

As an active volcano, no trees could grow on it, so you're able to really appreciate the bare silhouette of it.

Miss. Takoyaki

Hey, if you ever run into me on the street in Osaka, buy me Takoyaki.

Fierce

A place in Nigatsudou, Nara, Japan. When I first visited this place, I didn't feel that was the first time I was there. A typical mixed architecture of temple and Jinja which was separated officially in Meiji period.

Japanese worship sun, imagine how the sun shines over Toudaiji during the noon time when I visit there.
